Local Councillor Bob Standley has been re-elected unopposed as leader of Wealden District Council.

The decision was taken at a full council meeting at Uckfield Civic Centre on May 25th. Councillor Standley was originally elected leader of Wealden District Council in May 2010. Councillor Brian Redman will take over as chairman of the Wealden Council cabinet.

Councillor Standley will hold the position for the next four years as the rules governing when the elections are held have been changed. additionally, the number of councillors in the Wealden District Council cabinet which makes policy decisions has been reduced from seven to six.

Councillor Standley recently presided over a move of the Council's HQ to a building in Hailsham. The aim of the move was to streamline the Council's operations into one building.
