A Council-led campaign to encourage local people to enjoy and use Hailsham Country Park has been introduced.

Hailsham Town Council maintains the 22 acre site off Gleneagles Drive, which includes woodland, meadows with wild flowers, ponds, a lake and an area that families can use for recreation.

All weather footpaths can be found throughout the site making it ideal for walks. The Council is attempting to get more people to use the area.

Town Councillor Jo Bentley talked of the park's attractions: "The country park is an ideal place to get away from it all. Residents and visitors can bring their family and a picnic, do a spot of fishing at the Gleneagles Lake, jog, spot wildlife, exercise their dog or encourage their children to let off steam using the open space to fly a kite."

Fishing is permitted during the season at two sites managed by Hailsham Town Council, at the Gleneagles Lake at the Country Park and at Hempstead Pond. Both places are well stocked with fish including carp, bream and roach.

Car parking close by is free of charge and copies of local maps detailing Hailsham Country Park are available to the public free of charge from the Town Council Offices at the Inglenook, Market Street in the town centre.
