The former home of Merrydown Cider is likely to be redeveloped
Previous plans to use the site had suffered from problems but these appear to have been resolved opening up the possibility of a mixed residential and business development scheme to go ahead. An application for this has been lodged with Wealden District Council.
At present the site resembles a building site as old buildings have been torn down following the acceptance of a proposal to demolish the factory and shop.
A spokesperson for Redrow Homes who have submitted a planning application to develop the former cider factory said: "Subject to planning permission the derelict factory buildings will make way for new homes and some small business starter units."
The initial application is for a mixed scheme which will include 71 residential units. It is believed that the developers want to get the application out of the way and granted so that they are ready to move quickly when the property market picks up.
