Sussex Police will be targeting speeding drivers as part of a week-long speed awareness campaign, that began today (Monday).

Until Sunday 22 April officers will be carrying out checks at fixed enforcement sites as well as locally identified problem areas and mobile checks.

Sergeant Phil Duffy of Sussex Police Road Policing Unit said: "Speed is one of the biggest factors in accidents on our roads. Throughout the week officers will be stopping speeding drivers to enforce the law.

"But, it's not just about enforcement. We will also be talking to drivers to educate  who speed about the serious consequences of their actions. Driving too fast for the road or the weather conditions is extremely dangerous and is a major contributory factor to many collisions. Speeding could also end up in you seriously injuring or even killing yourself or others."

If you would like to make a report to Sussex Police contact 0845 60 70 999 or through the Operation Crackdown website.
