Severe weather warnings have been issued for Sussex and Hampshire by the Met Office for Sunday, with rain and gales expected from
Saturday night, and gusts of wind of more than 50 miles per hour predicted for
costal areas.
The Met Office warning stated: 'An area of heavy rain and strong winds will
spread northwards across the southern half of the UK on Sunday. The public
should be aware that this may lead to some local flooding given the recent wet
conditions, and that northeasterly winds may exceed 50 mph in some locations,
bringing the risk of falling trees.'
Yellow is the first level of warning, with amber and red being the next two
levels up.
The Environment Agency has also warned of localised flooding
across the region this weekend. Looding from rivers and surface water could also
make driving conditions dangerous and people are being cauntioned to take
care.
The weather is expected to calm during Monday, with the weather warning being
lifted.
