Conservatives win lions share of Hailsham Town Council seats

Hailsham elected its town councillors this week

results in Hailsham have seen the Conservatives have a successful night with 18
out of the 24 seats remaining blue.
In Hailsham Central
and North Ward seven seats were up for grabs with Bill Benier, Nicholas
Collinson, Jenny Cook, Barry Marlowe, Steve McAuliffe and Dawn Ryan successful
for the Conservatives. Paul Holbrook took the one seat for Liberal Democrats.
In Hailsham East where
three seats were being contested the Conservatives took a clean sweep, winning all
three through Stella Henstock, Michael Ryan and Stuart Towner.
Ten seats were up for
grabs in Hailsham South and West wards. Seven of them went to the Tories whilst
Independent candidates won three.
Jo Bentley, Jeff
Bentley-Astor, Maggie Burt, Nigel Coltman, Richard Grocock, Chriss Triandafyllou
and Tony Williams won the seats for the Conservatives whilst Bill Crittenden, Geoff
Rowe and Mary Rowe were returned as independents.
Finally, in the Upper
Horsebridge Ward four seats were uncontested so all candidates were
automatically elected, two each from the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats.
Charlotte Collinson and Mags Skinner for the Conservatives and Barbara Holbrook
and John Blake for the Liberal Democrats.
