  A sick seal has been put down by animal welfare experts after being found beached in Sussex. The 7ft (2.1m) adult grey seal was sighted close to the Hope Gap steps, near Seaford, on Sunday. • Lost sheep search for home

  More than 50 sheep that wandered into Chiddingly village, near Hailsham, have been taken in by residents while Sussex Police trace the owners.   Police are warning Land Rover owners to ensure their vehicles are secure after a spate of thefts in Rother, Wealden and Lewes districts over the weekend.
